Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Studded in the Bay of Bengal the island of Andaman and Nicobar is one destination which you cannot afford to miss. Not only geographically but even culturally the islands are distinct and appealing.
It was in the 1850’s that the closed groups of the inhabitants of the islands first came into contact with outside population. There are about ten sub-groups in the Andamans with distinct languages some of them being the Jarawa: the jungle Jarawa; the Onge; and the Sentinelese. Various other sets of groups can also be found in the Nicobars the inhabitants of which have formed two different groups namely the Nicobarese and the Shompen. Thus culturally the Andaman Nicobar islands’ destinations show various colours with respect to the groups you come across.

The islands are free from the extremities of weather/climate. If you want to enjoy the beautiful jungles, beaches and waterfalls of the Andaman and Nicobar islands, then the best time to visit is from May to December. While in April the islands are divers’ paradise. Thus, the islands have something or the other to offer throughout the year.
